In 2024, SuperC advances with another productive workshop (2. October 2024)
For our 2024 workshop, SuperC moved location to Spain- we met from 27. August – 30. August 2024 in Sant Feliu de Guíxols at the Spanish Costa Brava. The location provided a dramatic backdrop for an inspiring workshop which saw 47 participants from 15 countries representing 17 institutions from six countries worldwide. SuperC welcomed numerous new participants, as well as many familiar faces who already attended last year’s workshop. This diverse mix of researchers, a third of whom were women, sparked many lively discussion rounds lasting well after dinner time.
The program this year saw a good mixture of talks contributed by group leaders and younger researchers, as well as plenty of small group discussions, hands-on tutorials and opportunities to socialize. Topics included quantum geometry in superconductivity, twisted bilayer and trilayer graphene, sessions on machine learning, 3D superconducting materials, anharmonic effects and disordered graphite. The workshop was highly fruitful and lead to many new ideas, built new connections and inspired plenty of new collaborations among both senior and junior researchers. Coming together in person also reinforced our strong sense of community and motivation to tackle new challenges ahead.
The scientific program was rounded off by a mix of social activities including hiking, running, coasteering and swimming in the sea. In 2025, SuperC will return from 24.-27. May to the same location in Sant Feliu de Guíxols- we cannot wait!
We are grateful for our sponsorship by AScI and the Jane & Aatos Erkko, Keele and Magnus Ehrnrooth Foundations whose support has enabled this workshop.
